International multimodal transport such as China-Europe Express, China-Europe Land-Sea Express, New Western Land-Sea Corridor, and Lianyungang-Horgos New Asia-Europe Land-Sea Intermodal Transport have developed steadily. The China-Europe Express has reached more than 200 cities in 25 European countries, 86 lines running at 120 kilometers per hour pass through major areas in the hinterland of Asia and Europe, and the logistics distribution network covers Eurasia. By the end of June 2023, China-Europe Express has operated 74000 trains, transporting nearly 7 million standard boxes and more than 50000 kinds of goods, involving 53 categories such as complete automobiles, mechanical equipment and electronic products, with a total value of over 300 billion US dollars.

On September 20, the X8721 multi-link express train carrying 40 50-foot containers from Shanghai to Guangzhou departed from Minhang Station of Shanghai Railway Freight Center and headed for Dongguan, Guangdong.
